Parents and carers are the primary care givers to the children and are an integral part of the children lives. We not only need to form good relationships with the children but their parents too. All Parents are made to feel welcomed, valued and respected in our nursery.

We therefore make every effort to communicate as much as possible with parents formally and informally by:

       •   Supporting all visits to see the nursery for a show round before admission, where the parent/carer can ask all questions, express worries or concerns and feel satisfied they have the information which they require
       •   All parents who join the nursery will receive a nursery handbook which is given to every new admission outlining our policies and procedures and other important information
       •   We like to build close working relationships with our parents and consider that good lines of communication when the child is dropped off or collected are essential
       •   Recording what each child has eaten, if they have slept and for how long in a format accessible to parents/carers
       •   Our key person system is in place so that the parent/carer and child can build close relationships with one or two staff members
       •   Encouraging feedback from parents/carers
       •   Holding regular meetings with parents/carers, where the child’s progress and development is discussed with the key person
       •   Welcoming the parents/carers into the nursery at all times and encouraging them to spend time at the nursery when possible
       •   Yearly questionnaires are given to the parents for feedback on our service
       •   Parents are asked to add any comments to our testimonial book when their child leaves our nursery
